Yiruxing — Privacy Policy
1. Overview
Yiruxing (一如行, "the App") is developed and operated by Valor Labs Inc., a corporation registered in British Columbia, Canada ("we", "us"). The App is a Buddhist practice aid for the Eight Precepts ceremony, meditation, sutra recitation, and dedication of merit.
We take a data-minimization approach. The vast majority of data stays on your device and is never uploaded to us or any third party.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide (stored on-device only)
- Dharma name / display name: shown during ceremonies and on completion cards.
- City: used to compute local dawn ("ming xiang") and solar noon. Can be entered manually.
- Practice records: precept dates, meditation durations, dedication text. On-device only.
- App settings: language, font, reminder preferences.
2.2 Optional Permissions
- Location: requested only when you tap "Locate". Coordinates are resolved to a city name via the operating system's reverse geocoding (Apple / Google), used solely on-device to compute dawn and noon, and never transmitted to us.
- Photo Library: requested only when you save a completion card image to your album.
2.3 "Ask Dharma" Feature (Optional)
The App includes an optional AI-assisted Q&A feature. When you use it:
- Your typed question is sent to our backend and forwarded to a large language model provider to generate a response.
- We do not attach your dharma name, location, contact info, or device identifiers.
- Conversation content is processed transiently for response generation. It is not used for model training and not used for advertising.
2.4 Subscriptions and Payments (Optional)
Yiruxing offers an optional paid subscription ("Yiruxing Membership"). All purchases are processed directly by Apple App Store or Google Play. We never receive your credit card number, billing address, or any payment credentials.
To synchronize membership status across devices and unlock entitlements (such as AI conversation quota and course discounts), we use RevenueCat (operated by RevenueCat, Inc.) as a sub-processor. RevenueCat receives:
- An anonymous device/user identifier linked to your account
- Subscription events (initial purchase, renewal, cancellation, expiration)
- Subscription product ID and expiration timestamp
- Platform, device model, and app version (for diagnostics)
RevenueCat does NOT receive your name, email address, credit card details, or location. See RevenueCat's privacy notice at https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy/
You can review, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Subscriptions. The in-app "Restore Purchase" button restores entitlements after reinstalling or switching devices.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell, rent, or commercially share your personal data.
- We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs.
- We do not embed third-party analytics or behavioral-tracking SDKs.
- We do not access your contacts, SMS, call logs, or calendar.
- We do not collect location in the background.
4. Your Rights
Because practice records live on your device, you can erase them in one step by clearing app data or uninstalling the App. For any records related to the "Ask Dharma" feature, you may email us at the address below to request deletion.
This policy follows the core principles of Canada's PIPEDA, the EU GDPR, and California's CCPA.
5. Children
The App is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
6. Data Retention
- On-device data: retained until you clear it or uninstall the App.
- "Ask Dharma" conversations: retained transiently in our backend to complete the request, typically no longer than 30 days.
7. International Transfers
Servers used for cloud features may be located in Canada, the United States, or other jurisdictions. Transfers are encrypted with TLS.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" on this page and provide reasonable notice in the App.
